In the end, Denji is only able to defeat her after realizing that she never cared for him as a person and using that to his advantage. After she shows her true colors as one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Conquest), it's shown that she Reforged into a Minion all of the Hybrids they had killed up to that point, with each of them declaring their undying love for her.
Makima was a Manipulative Bitch and Fetishized Abuser who used her looks to manipulate Denji (and to a lesser extent his partner Aki) into doing her bidding, even stringing Denji along with the promise of sexual favors.Guts exploited this and pretended to fall into the lure, only to turn the tables and blow her head off with his Arm Cannon at point-blank range when she transformed to try to eat him. The female Apostle that Guts kills in the very beginning of the manga is another big example, using her beautiful, naked, female human form to lure men into her embrace before assuming her Apostle form and eating them alive, with her most notable kill being Corkus during the Eclipse.As if that wasn't bad enough, her interactions with Guts show her as an outright sexual predator.

Expect some Slaying Mantis or Seductive Spider imagery for these characters, as female mantises and spiders have been known to eat their male partners after mating (although the prevalence of this habit is greatly exaggerated in the media).Ĭompare with the Femme Fatale, the somewhat more sympathetic (and often less overtly sexual) version of this character (which may overlap with this trope if the character has an ambiguous agenda), and The Casanova.
